The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition (EBRPPRC) advances solutions and works collaboratively with criminal justice coalitions to reduce mass incarceration and to uphold the basic human rights of those incarcerated at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and their families through education, advocacy, transparency and accountability.

Promote reform in the East Baton Rouge Parish criminal court system through civic engagement and courtroom observation. Court Watch Baton Rouge was launched in 2019 by the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition as a grassroots volunteer effort to bring greater transparency and efficiency to our criminal courts
Do you have a family member in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison? Have you been incarcerated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison? Have you had a family member injured or killed while incarcerated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The East Baton Rouge Parish Reform Coalition hosts a Family Moment at each monthly meeting. We offer a support network for those who have lost a family member as well as those having issues finding information regarding a family member currently incarcerated. We offer connections to a host of organizations that will provide support services.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition is pleased to be one of the partner organizations working with The Bail Project. The Bail Project is a national nonprofit organization that pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence
Between 2012 and 2016 there were 25 deaths in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Not one of these deaths have been independently investigated and families have been impeded at every level of trying to get information regarding their family member’s death. The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition seeks legislative changes that will allow deaths and major injuries to be fully investigated by a third party as well as changes in the Louisiana legislature regarding the release of autopsy reports to family members within a reasonable time frame.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison has worked to promote accountability and transparency regarding the implementation of the new Mental Health Crisis Stabilization Center.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition is committed to educating the public on how the criminal justice system works and especially understanding the importance of the role of the Public Defender and the fees and fines associated with mass incarceration.
East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition stands in support of restoration of voting rights for all formerly incarcerated persons. The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition is actively engaged in voter engagement and voter registration both for pre-adjudicated citizens currently being detained in the East Baton Rouge and their families and friends. The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition suggests all citizens register and exercise the franchise not as Democrats or Republicans but as citizens.
